• Nearly 500 Bristol busmen have threatened to strike from June 15 unless they get rises of up to £5 per week. They have rejected proposals from their union, the TGWU, for a new wage structure.
The Bristol Omnibus Company which pays £14 for a 42-hour week, has offered £16 10s for a 40-hour week but this has also been turned down.
