NEW LIGHTING LAWS IN ULSTER

NEW regulations on vehicle lighting came into effect in Northern Ireland last Sunday. It is forbidden to have on a stationary vehicle any light showing to the front which exceeds 7 W., but publicservice vehicles stopping to set down or pick up passengers, and special vehicles such as breakdown tenders, are exempt from this rule.

Not more than two reversing lights may be carried on any vehicle, and these may not exceed 24 W. There must be a _warning light visible to the driver when the reversing lamps are used.

TV BLAMED FOR LOSSES

TELEVISION and unemployment in i the shirt industry are blamed by the Ulster Transport Authority for losses amounting to £100 a week on bus services in Londonderry. Time-tables are being studied with a view to devising new schedules.
