AGenerally there are no risks to lungs from a barbecue as the cooking is done outdoors so smoke and fumes are quickly blown away However, asthmatics should stay away from the cooking fumes as they could trigger an attack.

It might interest you to know that in Florida the most common cause of smogs is said to be particles from barbecues and burger joints.
