Barry Laker has been ippointed sales finance mana;er of AWD Trucks. He has ;pent all his career in banking ind trade finance and has oined AWD after several years verating as a trade finance onsultant in New York.
In his new post, Laker is reTonsible for all sales financing ictivities, including the Irrangement of finance and easing packages and liaison with AWD's sales team — as yell as distributors — on both LA< and export truck finance.

ter seven years with the RAF. He will share responsibility with the other sales engineers for servicing the Haldex division aftermarket.
• LUTON BOROUGH COUNCIL ALLISON Donald Allison has been appointed transport manager at Luton Borough Council, having been acting transport manager since December 1988. He joined the company as administration officer from the Royal Air Force, where he served for 23 years.
• DIGITAL MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS GRIFFITHS/SAUNDERS Digital Mobile Communications has appointed two new business development managers, responsible for identifying new business: Kevin Griffiths covers the North-west and is based at the company's Manchester headquarters; Gary Saunders is responsible for the Midlands, working from the company's headquarters in Birmingham.
• RAC WOOD John Wood, the RAC's chief engineer and technical services director, has been appointed to head a five-man commission to investigate motoring-related environmental problems throughout the world.
As chairman of the subcommission, he will look at air pollution, noise levels, conservation for tourism, roadbuilding techniques, road design and landscaping.
• TRAILERENT CHAPMAN/PULMAN SMITH Steve Chapman has joined Trailerent as European general manager. He has been in the transport industry for 18 years and in his new role will be responsible for developing Trailerent's Euopean network. Based at the company's Slough headquarters, Chapman will report to managing director Mike Dibb.
Tim Pulnrian has been appointed to the new position of regional fleet engineer for the North. Pulman joined Trailerent in 1984 and has held several branch management positions, most recently as branch manager, a role which will now go to Nick Smith. Smith joins from Crane Fruehauf where he worked for 13 years in various workshop management and sales posts.
• GREENHOUS MIDLANDS PADDOCK Richard Paddock is new managing director of Leyland
Daf truck and van and Bedford van dealership Greerihous Midlands.
His promotion follows his appointment as director/general manager of the Wolverhampton-based company last year. In his new position, Paddock will report directly to Greenhous group managing director Dudley Murfin.
• UNIPART NEILL John Neill, group chiefexecutive of the Unipart Group of Companies, has been appointed a non-executive director-designate to the board of the proposed privatised Midlands Electricity.
• STRATHTAY SCOTTISH OMNIBUSES MULLEN/RENILSON The Scottish Bus Group has named Charlie Mullen managing director of Dundee-based Strathtay Scottish Omnibuses. He succeeds Neil Renilson who has resigned.
• FERRYMASTERS FOSTER Gary Foster has been appointed sales representative with the Scandinavian division of Ferrymasters. He will join the commercial team based at Harwich servicing clients based in the south of England.
Foster previously worked for South American Purchasing Agency where he was container manager. In his new job he will report to Keith Cadby, commercial manager of South Ferrymasters' Scandinavian division.
