• Edinburgh-based industrial and commercial flooring contractor Floorall has bought one of the first Mercedes-Benz 408D vans to go into UK service.
The 408D is the heaviest model in Mercedes' revised Ti transporter range — plated in standard form at 4.6-tonnes GVW and with a wheelbase of 3.7m. 'rhe twin-rear-wheeled 4081) can carry loads 3.95m long, weighing up to 2.5 tonnes. Body capacity is 11.4m* Floorall managing director Peter Blyth says the 408D was bought for its loadspace and payload.
The company regularly carries carpet rolls 3.66m (12') long and bags of cement and packs of floor tiles which bring the vehicle's weight close to its plated GVW.
