Leyland Daf has stepped up attack on the Ilk drawbar 7ket with the launch of its st powerful prime mover del to date — the 263kW 2hp) three-axle FAR 95.350 ssis — which is intended to isfy demand for more
verful drawbar rigids to et the proposed UK 35ne drawbar weight limit, to come into effect on 1 uary 1993.
rhe 6x2 FAR 95.350 is :red with four wheelbases ween 4.05 to 5.20 metres, ibling it to take bodywork up 4.19m in length. It has a iign gross weight of 23 ton and a design gross train ight of 44 tonnes.
kccording to Leyland Daf, FAR 95.350 can provide isiderable savings in annual Ucle excise duty over similar ight artic units. At the curit gross train weight limit of 5 tonnes, the VED would be £1,100 for the prime mover and as little as £100 for the trailer, compared with £2,450 for a 32.5-tonne GCW fouraxle artic combination with 20% less load deck space than the FAR 95.350 and trailer.
The FAR 95.350's rear bogie features Daf's electronically-controlled-air
suspension (ECAS) system which provides automatic ride height control. The chassis can also be raised or lowered for demount bodies and the back axle can be raised when running unladen. The FAR 95.350 comes with all drawbar electries and air lines installed, along with a 600-litre fuel tank.
