has such a vast armoury of charges that can be brought without needing to resort to that one. I have already mentioned Section 1 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 (causing death by dangerous driving) and Section 42(1) (failure to comply with Construction and Use Regulations), the former for the driver and the • • latter for both company and driver. Moreover for the company there is the further possibility of revocation of the operator's licence under Section 17 of the Public Passenger Vehicles Act 1981, and this could of course follow an accident abroad just as much as one in this country.
Even so, there is still the possibility, remote though it might be, of manslaughter charges being brought against the driver and the directors and of the company being charged with corporate manslaughter.
