4AN has ended a long criod of speculation by addig a coach chassis to its ange available in Britain. .ight-hand-drive versions of its 16.280 and 16.240HOCL chassis will come into the country later this year.
Both chassis will feature full air suspension and both will be rear engincd.
A vertical version of the six-cylinder horizontal unit used to power the integral SR280 will be used.
Talks are taking place with a number of bodybuilders able to body the chassis for British operators.
The resultant vehicle is expected to be "competitively priced".
MAN also says it is closely examining the midibus and coach market where it already is having some success with MAN-VW products.
The SR280 integral, which was first introduced to British operators in 1979, will continue to be available "at the top end of the market".
