PILKINGTON BROTHERS of Chester-le-Street, County Durham has taken delivery of a Crane Fruehauf single compartment 26,140 lit (5,750 gal) insulated tank semi-trailer, custom built to carry molten rosin.
Based on a standard CF model the specification was modified to meet with Pilkington's specific requirements relating to temperature loss/journey time ratio.
Many of Pilkington's journey times to France, West Germany and the Netherlands take up to 48 hours during which the molten rosin needs to be maintained at about 200°C.
Crane Fruehauf's use of stainless steel components and insulation design limits heat loss to less than 10°C per 24 hour period.
