Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NiTOTORISTS who gave lifts to people IVA on country bus routes were criticized by Mr. S. W. Nelson, chairman of the Western Licensing Authority, at Salisbury, last Friday. They were robbing bus operators of their passengers, he said, and the consequence might be that bus services would be withdrawn.

Subject to modification of proposals relating to the Sturminster Newton area, the Authority authorized Bere Regis and District Motor Services to make a general increase in fares on stage services.

Mr. Nelson said the concern's accounts showed a "very serious deficiency," resulting from a falling-off in private-hire work which, in the past. had subsidized the stage services.

It was not unreasonable that visitors to a holiday town should be expected to pay more for their transport than the ordinary day-to-day traveller using buses to get to and from work, Brighton Town Council were told, last week, by Cllr. L. Knowles. He unsuccessfully moved' that the transport committee's decision not to introduce weekly and other forms of concession fares he referred back.

The council agreed to ask the committee for a report on transfer tickets.
