MR. D. 0. GIBSON is to become a general line representative of the Avon India Rubber Co., Ltd., in Northumberland.
MR. R. ASKIN has been appointed a director of J. Brockhouse and Co., Ltd. He previously acted as an executive director.
MR. E. W. HANCOCK, director and general manager of Humber, Ltd., has been elected president of the Institution of Production Engineers.

MR T. A. LAZENBY, sales manager of the tractor division of David Brown Industries, is visiting China at the invitation of the People's Republic.
MR. W. P. BROOMFIELD has been appointed president of the Scottish Motor Trade Association for 1956-57. The retailer vice-president is MR. G. A. NICHOLLS.
MR. W. ROPER, transport manager of Torquay Co-operative Society, has retired. His successor is MR. G. W. ALLEN, formerly transport manager of Newton Abbot Co-operative Society.
MR. T. Evatas has been elected president of the Institution of Body Engineers. MR. H. R. BARBER and MR, W. Coans MaroN are vice-presidents and MR. K. A. OSBORNE. is honorary treasurer.
830 MR. A. E. E. ADAMS, director of Adams Bros. (Kingston), Ltd., has returned from National Service with the R.A.O.C. to join his brother, MR. A. D. D. ADAMS, in the running of the business. Both are sons of MR. A. E. ADAMS, chairman of George Bristow, Ltd., an associated concern.
MR. S. C. BOND, president of the Traders' Road Transport Association, was last week elected chairman of the National Road Transport Federation. He Succeeds MR. JAMES BARRIE.. The new vice-chairmen are MR. A. E. BREWER, chairman of the Passenger Vehicle Operators' Association, and MR. R, G. CROW-THEE, chairman of the Road Haulage Association. The three Associations are the constituent bodies of the Federation.
T.R.T.B. TO APPEAL
"THE Teesside RaiHess Traction Board have lodged an appeal to the Minister of Transport against the Northern Licensing Authority's refusal to permit them to operate a bus service between Saltburn and Stockton, via Marske, Esion, Ormesby, Acklam and Thornaby (The Commercial Motor, June 8).
United Automobile Services, Ltd., and British Railways opposed the application, as well as Middlesbrough and Stockton Corporations.
Eston Urban District Council have been recommended by their general purposes committee to protest to the Ministry and the Licensing Authority because their clerk was not allowed to make any submission in support of the Board at the hearing.
Eston Council, who are partners with Middlesbrough in the T,R.T.B., are protesting to Middlesbrough about that Authority's objection.
