Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE validity of certain war-time emergency permits relating to public service vehicles, road passenger services, and drivers and conductors of public service vehicles, which would otherwise expire on July 31, has been further extended under the Road Vehicles and Drivers (Amendment) Order, 1951, made by the -Minister of Transport. The Order will come into force on August 1.

The extensions are automatic and are intended to keep the authorizations effective until they can be reviewed and replaced, where required, by new licences. The Order also provides that the authority whereby authorized p.s.v. drivers may act also as conductors without being duly licensed as such will he continued in force until July 31, 1952, or the expiry of the relevant Defence Regulation, if earlier.

DRIVERS' WAGE AWARD

HIGHER rates of pay for drivers of 1 1 C-licence vehicles in the sand and ballast industry have been announced. Increases are effective immediately after the pay-day in the week ended June 30 and are as follows: Drivers of vehicles under 12 tons gross weight, class 1, 2s. 81d. per hour. class 2, 2s. 71d, per hour; over 12 tons, class I, 2s. 10d, per hour, class 2, 2s. 9d. per hour.
