AGENERAL meeting of the National Association of Tyre Specialists, 64; Wool Exchange, 25-29, Coleman Street, London, E... 2, was held in London on June 26, and was attended by 37 representatives, with Mr. E. W. Orchard in t' e chair.

He pointed but that the tyre industry was passing through a most difficult interim 'period. in which many thorny, problems were arising. It was essential that the Association should be giore than .ever watchful of the interests of its members.

Consideration Was given to the adoption of a revised and improved new constitution, and upon a proposal' by Mr. A. A. Cresall, seconded by Mr. W. Liman, it was agreed that the draft set of rules before the meeting should be taken as read. A full discussion upon the nature of these then took place, and a number of modifications made. It was agreed that in the event of an application for membership being refused, the applicant should have the right to have his application reconsidered, following the report of two independent members from a different part of the country from that in whieh his business was situated. It was also agreed that no voting by proxy should be permitted.

Consideration was then given to the decontrol of part-worn tyres and retreaded covers of car sizes, and of new tubes for these.

On the subject of retreading it was mentioned that no uniform statement had yet been issued by the Retread Manufacturers' Association or the Tyre Manufacturers' Conference, although it appears that certain members of the R.M.A. had issued circulars announcing the imposition of repair and handling .charges in c-rtain circumstances.

It appeared that any additional cost was not due, to the price of rubber to the retreader being greater than to the manufacturer.

Further attention was paid to the 'question of the tyres deposited on M.O.S. dumps.
