Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Many of our readers are Probably aware that, in view of the large amount of scientific and other special information now available in periodicals and libraries, an organization named the Association of Special Libraries and Information Bureaux, with headquarters at 38, Bloomsbury Square, London, W.C.1, has been formed to assist in making such information available to all who wish to use it. Associate-membersnip is open to all those interested. One of the first activities of the Association is concerned with the compilation of a directory of sources of specialized information in Great Britain and Ire Overseas Orders for Thornycrofts.

Amongst the orders received dnring a recent week far Thornycroft commercial chassis, those for the type Al continue to predominate. They include six for the Government of South Africa. six for Canada, four for the company's agents in Rio de Janeiro and three for owners in Johannesburg.

In addition to these, orders for other -types were received from Cape Town, Copenhagen and from users at home, the latter including a repeat order from the Director of Army Contracts for two of the new Thornycroft rigid six-wheeled chassis.

Joint Operation of Municipal Buses:

The . Abertillery Urban District Council has deferred for six months the eonsideration of a motion that it should express its approval of the principle of running a municipal bus service and should. confer with the Blains, Ebbw Vale; Tredegar, Abereorn and Brynmawr lirflan District Councils concerning the 'proposal for the joint acquisition and running of buses in the Monmouthshire Valley.

Members who expressed sympathy with the move for a joint fleet of buses thought that the matter should have been dealt with six months ago, that the time was now inopportune, and that the impoverished state of the finances of some of the councils made Parliamentary approval of the scheme remote. Other views were that services established by private enterprise at considerable risk of capital should not be opposed at the expense of the ratepayers, and that, in any case, clauses providing for compensation of the private owners should be embodied in any Bill put before Parliament.

It is probable that the joint scheme will proceed and that fewer councils will be concerned in its promotion than was anticipated.
