Last week a public company with the title Morris Motors (192(), Ltd., was registered with a capital of 15,000,000 divided into 3,000,000 preference shares and 2,000,000 ordinary shares of each. The public issue will probably be made at the end of the present week. The preference shares bearing interest at 7i per cent., the interest being cumulative, will, it is understood, be offered to the public. The new company,. will acquire the businesses of Morris Motors, Ltd., Morris Engines (Coventry), Ltd., Oaberton Radiators, Ltd, and Rollick and Pratt, Ltd. The directors are Messrs. W. t. Morris, Edgar IL Blake. W. H. Palford, H. W. Grey, Hans Landstad, A. A. Rose,-H. A. Ryder, F. G. WooBard and H. W. Young.

Leyland Works Busy.

Amongst many orders which Leyland Motors, Ltd., Leyland, Lancs., have recently received we may mentiOn.one for a further twelve 2-ton chassis from the Normand Garage, Ltd., the vehicles being for service in the transport department of Joseph Lyons and Co., Ltd., a repeat from Shell-Mex, Ltd., for 2-eon chassis, a third for similar chassis from C. A. Wells, Ltd., as well as another from Pickforcls, Ltd.

' On the passenger-carrying side the company have orders in hand for the Bull Corporation Tramways, the Kingston-on-Hull Corporation, and Christopher Dodson, Ltd., whilst a number of bases is under construction for tho tramways authorities of Calcutta.

A Dennis for a Gas Company,

We illustrate on this page a Dennis 30-cwt. chassis equipped with a special body built to meet the requirements of the Hampton Court Gas. Co. It is

arranged to carry 12 cooking stoves, 12 gas fires, and about the same number of meters, and, as the load has frequently to be discharged in restricted areas, there are two means of access to the body, these being two hinged doors placed in the" centre of the near side, and A back which can open completely, being provided with a hinged tailboard

and an upper section formed by two hinged doors.

As gas stoves are heavy to handle and frequently incorporate delicate parts, a fitment has been devised to facilitate on and off loading. This has a double skid, which is provided to bridge at an angle of some 40 degrees the space between the, floor of the vehicle and the ground, whilst on a strong cross-member of the body is a pulley block. The framework is formed of stout ash timbers, to which are fitted mahogany panels.

Growing "Use of Motors in Sweden.

According to statistical reports the number of motor vehicles in Sweden at the end of 1925 was 103,448, comprising 59,122 passenger cars, 19,203 lorries, 1,283 buses and 23,G49 cycles. During the first five months of this year 10,561 motor vehicles were imported, •

Canadian Production.

The production of motors in Canada 'during the month of April numbered 21,502 vehicles, of which 2,709 -were commercialvehicles, 1,982 chassis and

12 taxicabs and buses. This output was 4 per cent, below the production of March, but was 13 per cent. above the number of vehicles constructed in April a year ago. The total cumulative production for the first four months of the present year showed an advance of 34 per cent. over the total for the same period in -1925. From January-April last 10,350 commercial vehicles were built and 58 taxicabs and busses.

Bus Tyre Maintenance.

Chesterfield Corporation has accepted the tender of the Henley's Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd., for the Maintenance of the solid tyres on omnibuses for the year ending March 31st next, at the price of .75d. per vehicle mile, provided that the charge for tyres at present in Use be .5d. per, vehicle mile.

Abandoning Tramways.

Application has been made to the Worcester County Council for consent, to the abandonment of tramways in Stourbridge and the Lye and Wollescote urban district, and the county highways committee recommends that the Ministry of Transport be pressed for an amendment of the draft order for abandonment, so as to provide that the roads shall be made good between the tramway tracks and put into a condition similar to the rest of the roadway.

Farm Tractors in Germany.

With the assistance of a number cf banks and the patronage of the German Ministries of Food and Agriculture a new concern has lately been formed in Berlin, with a capital of £100,000, to assist German farmers financially in the acquisition of agricultural tractors.

Fordsons for Refus3 Collection. •

The Bermondsey Borough Council has recently placed an order with R. Pratt, Ltd., 'High Street, Sutton, Surrey, who are authorized distributors for the Fordson tractor, for five Fordson tractors and 20 Soften patent refuse-collecting trailers.
