A pioneer himself in the cycle and motor industry, Mr. H. 0. Duncan, connected with De Dion-Bouton et Cie, of Paris, has written a stupendous book entitled, "The World on Wheels," in which he enters into the origin and progress-of roads, vehicles and fuels. Mr. Duncan has been intimately in touch with all the prominent personalities in the cycle and motor movement, and he tells us that his book has many startling disclosures and presents many a thrill. The price of the volume is 3 guineas, and it is published 'by the author from 32 rue de Mathurius, Paris. A volume towards the receipt of which we look every year and to which we have recourse continuously for statistics and useful information is published by the Electrical Press, Ltd., of 13 to 16, Fisher Street, Southampton Row, London, W.C.1, under the title of "The Motor Transport Year Book and Directory." The tenth annual issue recently published is issued at 25s. net, and gives, inter alia, a geographical index of the various undertakings providing and employing mechanical transport facilities. These concerns are then taken one by one and the history, status, financial position, transport equipment, directorate, etc., of each is given in excellent detail. Manufacturing and trading concerns are dealt with in the same manner. The statistics relating to mechanical road transport are carefully analysed and presented in extremely useful form. A general survey of the legal and Parliamentary position of road transport is another valuable feature. In a volume of 900 pages, a great deal of interesting information is contained, and the volume is indispensable to everyone in the road transport industry.
