Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE Highland and Agricultural Show was held at Kelso from Tuesday to Friday (both days inclusive) of last week. The Albion Motor Car Co., Ltd., showed a 2-ton lorry mounted on a 24 h.p. chassis, the body having hinged and detachable sides and tailboard. They also exhibited a 29-seater 30-60 h.p. low loading-line bus with entrance at the rear on the near side affording easy access to the interior by a single step.

Aveling and Porter, Ltd., exhibited a single-cylinder steam road roller, 10 tons nominal in weight, equipped with a Belpaire-type boiler with large steam capacity, also a compound-cylinder steam motor tractor, type M, fitted with rubber tyres and equipped with a similar type of boiler.

Fiat (England), Ltd., showed the 15-cwt. Windsor box van, having a body constructed with steel panels and metal windscreen, the inside being matchboarded to ' the waist-line and being slatted above. They also showed a 25cwt. drop-sided lorry, a 2-ton platform lorry, the driver's cab being fully enclosed and having a glass windscreen, C26 and a 25C-12 S.P.A. 20-seater bus with a pay-as-you-enter body.

John Fowler and Co. (Leeds), Ltd., exhibited a three-way steam tipping wagon, with a capacity of 6 tons, in which the drive is taken from the engine through a three-speed gearbox to a worm drive on the hind axle, the whole of the transmission gear being totally enclosed and running in oil. Their exhibit also included a 7 h.p. traction engine and an 8-ton nominal steam road roller.

Guy Motors, Ltd., through their Edinburgh agents, the Peebles Motor Co., Ltd., showed a 1-ton lorry and cab, a 2-ton lorry and cab, a 16-seater lowloading motor coach, and a 26-seater low-loading bus.

The International Harvester Co. of Great Britain, Ltd., included in a large exhibit a 10-20 h.p. International geardriven farm tractor, whilst on the stand of the Scottish Motor Traction Co. they showed a MeCormick-Deering tractor.

Marshall, Sons and Co., Ltd., showed a 7 n.h.p. single-cylinder traction engine, a 10-ton single-cylinder road roller and a large number of exhibits of interest.

Morris Commercial Cars, Ltd., had a large exhibit, including the standard 1-ton tipping truck, the 30-cwt. kng chassis with a flat platform body, a 12cwt. " Popular " van, a 30-cwt. chassis with a 16-seater coach body, a 16-seater saloon bus on a similar chassis, a shooting brake and a Morris-Roadless-Traction truck which can be converted from creeper tracks to wheels in a few hours.

John I. Thornycroft and Co., Ltd., showeda 25 h.p. subsidy-type Al hinged-sided lorry for 30-cwt. loads, a 25 h.p.-type Al boxvan fitted with a ramp for the transport of hounds or other livestock, a 20-seater single-deck omnibus on a 25 h.p.-type Al long chassis for the Stonehaven Motor Services Co., Ltd.

In addition to a 20-30 h.p. portable power plant, Sentinel Waggon Works, Ltd., showed a standard Super-Sentinel three-way tipper.

The Vulcan Motor and Engineering Co., Ltd., showed a 2-ton timber lorry, a 2k-ton hydraulic three-way-tipper, a 2-ton general-purposes lorry, aild a 20seater one-man-operated, bus.
