Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MAN and ERF have integrated two different marques into a coherent UK range. ERF's ECT shares its cab with the MAN TGA. It has two basic models available, comprising the "narrower" low-entry version in day, standard roof sleeper and high roof sleeper. These are backed up by the full-width "high entry" cabin in standard roof mode and top-of-the range Olympic cab. equivalent to the high-roof TGA XXL. ERF ECTs, however, have their own interior trim and external badging. The ECT has kept its ISMe Cummins engine option rated at 385 and 420hp. However, on either side of it sits the latest MAN 020 engine offered at 350hp and the 12.8-litre 028 diesel at 480hp. Standard gearbox is the ZF Ecosp lit, as yet there's no AS-Ironic auto option. Chassis variants include 4x2, 6x2 mid-lift, 6x2 with small mid-lift 19.5in wheels and a full-blown 6x4 for forestry/landfill and heavy haulage work.

MAN-quality build and comfort levels Die-hards can still get a Cummins Combined MAN/ERF extended back-up Not many — but how long Cummins will remain an ECT option post Euro-4?

VERDICT

ECT seems to offer best of both worlds, I namely, MAN cab and build qualify, and Cummins ISMe economy — hard-to-fault
