An old-tech 2.0-litre engine puts the Tata at an automatic disadvantage compared to more modern alternatives, but despite mediocre performance —there's a new engine expected soon —the luel economy of this machine appears promising. In cab is rather basic, but roomy enough and everything is well organised. Decent payload (740kg) and load volume (2m') put the Safari at the top end of the sector though 6,000 mile service intervals are a bit on the skinny side.
