The "cheap and cheerful" monicker must have been devised for this bargain basement pick-up from Malaysian manufacturer Proton. Based on the Wira passenger car the Jumbuck's main selling paint is price, although in the absence of any rivals it has the market sector completely to itself.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre petrol engine delivering 86hp though, like all petrols when applied to the commercial sector. it needs working hard to get sufficient performance when loaded. Inside drivers can't expect lo be spoilt for comfort, yet the interior is easy to clean and the ride and handling are good even if the steering is a little ponderous at times.

At the business end the load bed measures 1.53m x1 .35m and payloads are 645kg for the GL entry model and 635kg for the slightly more plush GLS model.
