Mercedes charged into the light commercial vehicle sector with a vengeance when it launched the Sprinter in 1995. Introduced to a fanfare of approval, it has quickly risen to be numbertwo in the market behind Transit. Initial body platform was shared with Volkswagen (see LT below), though most recent updates have been carried out independently.
