ahe Hawk is pleased to learn that TNT's Christmas appeal collected 20,000 tins of soul), meat and desserts to provide the basis of Christmas dinners for the people of Bosnia. Over 10 days "tin bins" were placed in every TNT depot fur staff to donate one tin of soup, one tin of meat and a tin of fruit. The tins were delivered to TNT Express's Ramsbottom depot for shipment to Bosnia. Staff at TNT's parcel distribution centre at Atherstone gave up their free ,firm's Christmas dinner and used the money saved, £1,000, to buy a further 1,500 tins.
Elsewhere, Cornish charily Action Aid has sent a renovated tanker and ,fire engine to Ethiopia. The fire engine will go to a remote town which has only one other appliance while the tanker will distribute water across a desert region near the Sudanese border
