Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

iEDISH hauliers use more draulic lorry loaders than yone else in Europe. But tit many fiat-bed drawbar nbinations fitted with lorry ines at the rear of the ving unit, so as to be able to ich the trailer load as well, me are limits to the capacity loaders when at maximum tension.

Design of a long-reach ding crane of adequate cajty would result in an un duly heavy and expensive installation and a Linkbping firm of hydraulic equipment specialists has accordingly come up with a novel folding deck trailer in which the load is moved to within reach of the crane.

The design has been adapted from the Tydraul skip carrier in which a similar principal allows a normal skip loader to deal progressively with up to four units carried on the drawbar outfit. The fiat deck of the Tydraul trailer consists of several sections horizontally hinged so that a double-acting hydraulic ram, under the floor, can fold the whole deck — rather like a concertina type door — up against the fixed headboard. This arrangement (the movement of the sliding/folding floor is controlled by the seated crane operator) allows palletised freight to be placed by a normal reach crane on what is actually the tail end of the load platform. This is moved back hydraulically and the next floor section is then loaded. The sequence continues until the floor is fully extended with the first pallet to go on now at the end of the platform.

For off-loading singlehanded the procedure is followed in reverse order.

The maker claims that a Tydraul installation of the kind described adds only 150kg (3301b) to the weight of a dropside trailer.
