BECAUSE some Sunderland Corporation Transport conductresses believe that women can drive modern buses, four of the town's 65 clippies have been selected for a course at the department's driving school But transport committee chairman alr. Jamieson has warned that the women must show they can handle all the buses and not just the lighter models. Although the department is changing over entirely to one-man operated singledeckers, the change is to be a gradual one and the fleet includes some very recent 77-seat Daimler Redline double-deckers.
