TWELVE months after the original hearing, the North-Western Traffic Commissioners have issued their written decision on applications for express services to &Alin& holiday camp at Pwllheli, North Wales.
The applications from Bracewells (Cohn) Ltd., Crossville Motor Services Ltd., Ribble Motor Services Ltd., Ribbleswade Coachways Ltd., and W. D. Standerwick Ltd., were all granted as applied for.
The applicants previously provided a service to the camp from Colne but it had, in the opinion of the Commissioners, two disadvantages: there was a delay of 1+ hours at Llandudno; and the route was via North Wales coast roads which caused delays in summer.
As reported in COMMERCIAL MOTOR 0I1 January 21 1966, the Commissioners had already agreed that any grant they might make would be for traffic travelling via Ruthin and Cerrig-y-Druidion. In their decision the Commissioners stated that they felt that it was in the public interest to provide a quicker and direct inland route.
Applications for period returns were granted to Tattersalls from Burnley and Colne at a fare of 52s. 6d. A similar grant was made to W. C. Standerwick Ltd.
Other applications for period returns from five operators were refused. The operators were Bracewells Excursions Ltd., Sandown Tours (Burnley) Ltd., Aaron Storey Ltd., Titteringtons Coaches Ltd., and Shutt Bros.
