THE four-month dispute between J. and A, Smith, of Maddiston, Ltd., haulage contractors and the Scottish Commercial Motormen's Union is over.

Mr. Alex H. Kitson, the union's genera , secretary, announced that the union has reached a negotiated settlement with the firm, whicl employs more than 300 drivers throughou Britain.

The dispute arose originally at the firm' Glasgow depot, where about 70 drivers staged two-day unofficial strike because of "ba( industrial relations". The management paid oi all the strikers and the union then declared th stoppage official.
