II More CM readers are facing problems registering their fleets for London's congestion chargejust two weeks before charging begins (CM 30 Jan-5 Feb).

Geraint Davies, fleet manager at Bridgend-based John Raymond Transport says after waiting five weeks for the forms he tried to register online: "But the website has been inaccessible for four weeks—we even tried using different computers and service providers.

"When I finalNi got through on the phone line last week and spoke to somebody they promised the forms would be sent but I still haven't received them. We will now have to pay the 210 charge for each vehicle."

Sue Moody, the Freight Transport Association's London & South East regional director, says that it has been inundated with calls from operators who are having problems registering.

"I am extremely concerned about the situation with only two weeks to go. We have members saying that the website is tripping up and the phones are constantly engaged. It certainly doesn't bode well for 17 February. We are bound to have people then receiving penalty notices who think they have registered and paid correctly but find out they haven't."

A spokesperson for Til says: "Over 100,000 people, including car drivers and hauliers, have managed to successfully register. We were aware of a problem with our website up until ten days ago but have since had a major upgrade to it."
