Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Ruth Pott's comments on pensions (CM16-22 Jan) quite frankly amazed me. If we are to address the increasingly pressing problems of recruiting and keeping drivers, the industry must lift its sights. That means serious consideration of pensions as well as pay, working hours, holidays, roadside facilities and all other issues that affect drivers.

The T&G takes this issue very seriously. We are putting pensions centre stage. I would urge employers and the RHA to work with us on this issue. It is their future as well as that of our members.

Ron Webb T&G National Secretary, London.
