eclipsed by its smaller L10 stablemate, but it is still very popular. For a start it powers 20% of all ERF tractors which makes the ERF E14 a useful target for this month's Workshop Ways.
As usual there are three levels of service: A, B and C with standard times of 3.1, 6.8 and 10.5hrs respectively. The service interval is 16,000km. The A is the standard service, with a B every six months or 100,000km and a C once a year or every 200,000km.
Before starting the service check if the engine is fitted with one or two oil filters — more powerful versions have two.
Our subject vehicle is a twin-steer factory demonstrator with air suspension on the second axle and a turbo charged version of the engine rated at 27210/1/ (365hp) which drives through art Eaton Twin Splitter gearbox to a Rockwell single-reduction rear axle with Girling brakes.
We watched Glyn Moores, who has spent 13 years with ERF, carry out a B service on the vehicle at the factory's service department.
