Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A relief convoy of British truck drivers in Albania appeared to be safe this week, despite reports of attacks on their lorries.

A telex from one of the 23 drivers with the Bedford-based Task Force Albania group said that the "situation had been extremely dangerous" since they entered the country last Thursday (30 January).

The message said that trucks had been mobbed and turned over and curtains slashed.

Charity Feed the Children, which has led several relief efforts to Albania, says it warned the Task Force organisers not to enter the country with a large convoy: "I would have been very surprised if they had managed it unscathed," says a spokesman.

Many of the convoy drivers, who left Bedford almost two weeks ago, belong to hauliers co-operative Unit 91.

Unit 91 leader Mike Pickering says that the situation in Albania is "so desperate, it's unbelievable". The Foreign Office is warning drivers not to travel with a relief convoy to Albania without seeking advice from experts.
