The team comprises members of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers, Brewery Transport Advisory Committee and Freight Transport Association.
It has been set up following extensive tests into artic braking systems by the IRTE and BTAC last year (CM19-15 Sept 1991), and aims to come up with: 0 A code of practice laying down standards to ensure each axle on an artic has balanced braking. fl A method for workshops to check trailer/tractor braking compatibility. BTAC member Andrew Davis, who is fleet engineer with Bass, says there are still problems with braking compatibility on many modern trucks. He would like to see more liaison among tractor, trailer and brake manufacturers.
