THE Road Haulage Association are joining with British Road Services in an approach to the Home Office for safety regulations governing the carriage of radioactive substances by road. This proposal was approved last week by the R.H.A. national council.

They referred back to the national executive committee a comprehensive Policy statement. It will be considered also by the chairman's committee, and will come before the national executive again on February 25.

The council decided to take no further action on the suggestion that the Association should have a president. The majority of the areas was opposed to it.

A proposal put forward by Mr. R. H. Farmer for joint action by hauliers to protect vehicles and loads against theft was passed to the chairman's committee for consideration. Provincial members agreed that the situation in London and the Home Counties [as stated in The Commercial Motor on January 16] was particularly serious.
