The call-up of vehicles for the chartered fleet will commence on Mardi 2, after adequate notice to owners. It is pointed out, however, that the number of vehicles offered has by no means reached the total ultimately required, and it is hoped that hauliers will not delay in offering further suitable types.

R. Tapp. Mr. Birtchnell is one of the live wires at the Ministry. Quiet. hi demeanour,. he never appears to better advantage than when occupying the chair at some important conference, at which -his remarks will be to the point and have a punch behind them, tempered by a nice sense of humour. It is be whohas done so much towards achieving friendly co-operation with the industry.
