SCARBOROUGH-BASED trailer repairers Bodysystems (UK) has been granted an 0-licence following the liquidation of a predecessor company with a similar name.

Bodysystems (UK) appeared before NorthEastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney at a Leeds public inquiry to seek a new national licence for three vehicles and three trailers.

Transport manager Tim Alvey said the firm offered a free collection and delivery service so tractor units were required to bring work in to the factory. Asked about his involvement with the liquidated firm Bodvsystems, Alvey said he had started that company about 10 years ago. In September 2006 he had separated from his wife; he claimed she had set about destroying the company. Granville Hartas, director of Bodysystems (UK), had bought the Bodysystems business from the liquidator.

Asked why an interim licence grant had not been taken up. Alvey said they had faxed a request for a licence disc four weeks ago but had not yet received it. The TC said he did not know how a request for an interim licence disc could take four weeks to process.

Asked if the new company was successful, Alvey said: "Yes and no," adding that it was better than it lookecl. The firm was running at a small loss.
