• Michael Reid, 39, is to become managing director of United Transport Distribution. For the past three years he has been operations director of Watney Mann National Sales; he was previously distribution development director for the same company.
Reid's appointment follows a "strategic appraisal of opportunities for expansion" of UTD's business. The company will now concentrate on contract transport, warehousing and distribution for major retailers and manufacturers — an area in which Michael Reid has strong experience. Contract distribution currently represents 51a of LITD's turnover.
