• The length of the eightvehicle PSV operator's licence held by Cathedral Coaches of Gloucester has been cut by three years and the company warned that its licence will be revoked if a full fleet check in the middle of next year proves to be unsatisfactory.
The company appeared before Western Traffic Commissioner Major-General John Carpenter after five of its vehicles were given prohibition notices during a spot check on school buses at the Newent Comprehensive School in July, with four of the vehicles receiving immediate prohibitions.
Evidence was given by a vehicle examiner when lie visited the company. Subsequently, records showed infrequent inspections.
The company says that things had got a bit slack and out of hand due to pressure oi work. The fleet had been reduced from 12 vehicles, the older vehicles disposed of and an additional driver taken on.
Major-General Carpenter prematurely terminated the licence so that it expires on April 1, 1988, instead of in March 1991.
