FREIGHTLINER has restructured its senior marketing and operations team with Ivor James, previously general sales manager, taking over as sales manager (home trade) and Graham Zeitlin, route marketing controller for the past four years, becoming sales manager (international trades). Robert Mason switches from the role of Freightliner's corporate planning manager to that of marketing and planning manager; John Bates, operations manager since 1978, is now operations manager (rail); and Peter Marsden, previously operations planning manager, is the new operations manager (safety and systems).
Cyril Acton has become deputy managing director of ERF Ltd, having joined the company in 1943. Mr Acton has been a director since 1974 and in his new post he will co-ordinate operations in industrial relations, sales, engineering, materials procurement and production.
Richard Pulman has joined the board of Unigate Ltd. He is currently managing director of Win 'canton Group Ltd which embraces Unigate's interests in transport and distribution, garages, vehicle rentals, engineering and plastics.
BRS accounts Previously area manager for TIP Trailer Rental, Peter Bevins has been named by British Road Services as national accounts sales executive, with particular responsibility for BRS Truck and Trailer Rental. His main task will be to market vehicle rental to major companies with national requirements.
Hoegh-Ugland Auto Liners (HUAL), the Oslo-based car carrier is to set up its own UK agency in January, called Autoliners (UK) Ltd, and in charge of the new operation is general manager, Gordon Priestley. Mr Priestley was previously head of the company's Middle East facility based at Sharjah's Port Khalid and has been with HUAL for five years.
ACAS chairman Pat Lowry is to succeed Jim Mortimer as chairman of the Council of the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service. Mr Lowry is currently director, personnel and external affairs, BL Ltd.
Joining the Peter Lane Group Ltd as a sales representative is Robert Brough. He previously worked for Transport International Pool.
David Brason has joined lntex (UK) Ltd, importers of lrizar coaches, as sales manager. Mr Brason will now be marketing the Spanish built lrizar bodies. He previously worked for Baker West.
Mitchell Cotts Transport Services has a new trainee manager, Howard Jarvis-Evans, at its Plymouth depot. He has recently graduated from Newcastle Polytechnic and has passed his finals for the Chartered Institute of Transport.
