• About 420 London Transport bus workers at Brixton garage called off their ban on late-night Saturday services last weekend.
This was because union leaders at the garage had been promised a meeting yesterday (Thursday) with senior London Transport officials.
London Transport police, metropolitan police and others concerned with the problem of late-night vandalism, rowdiness and drunkenness on buses were also at the meeting.
The ban had affected buses on four routes running from the West End and City to Brixton which were halted from 9 p.m. onwards.
