k. N. Todd, who is to be part-time chairman of the National Bus Company, will receive a salary of £5,000. Announcing this in the Commons this week the Minister of Transport said hat the other five board members of the company would also serve part-time, except the :hief executive T. W. H. Gailey. Mr. Gailey's salary would be within the normal bracket for ull-time nationalized board members—E7,000 to £9.500 a year. The other part-time nembers will be Al& W. Alker, chairman of Bury transport committee; A. P. de Boer, rice-chairman of the British Road Federation: Sir William Hart, chairman of Northampton Jew Town Corporation: and W. M. Little, chairman of the Scottish Bus Group. They would ill receive £1,000 except Mr. Little who would be paid as a full-time board member of the ;cottish Transport Group. Mr. Marsh added that he hoped to appoint a trade unionist and >ossibly one other person as further part-time members before January 1 next, the vesting late for the transfer of assets to the NBC. All terms of appointment would be until the end yf 1971.

hr Donald Stokes, chairman and managing direcor of British Leyland Motor Corporation, has been ppointed chairman of the Pressed Steel Fisher ivision, the corporation's body-making group. i. H. Turnbull, managing director of the Austin lorris division and a deputy managing director of .ritish Leyland, has been appointed deputy chairtan of the Pressed Steel Fisher division. J. L. utyens, managing director of the Pressed Steel isher division, has been appointed a director of le Austin Morris division.

Tian P. Thornton, 36, has been appointed the TITB's Welsh manager based at Cardiff. Mr hornton was formerly regional training manager f the Yorkshire and Humber region. Ronald J. urden, 54, who was regional training manager I the London and South Eastern Counties region. as been appointed regional manager of the Yorklire and Humberside region, replacing Raymond , Blows, 49, 'who has become regional manager f the London and South Eastern Counties !9 ion. L. V. Scott, for many years engaged in road haulage and latterly manager of the Pointer Group depot at Thorney, near Peterborough, has joined S. U. Vestey, R. Vestey and Peter Pettitt in their business, Kings Lynn Haulage Co.

J. Clegg has been appointed company secretary of Albion Motors Ltd. in succession to J. Maxwell, who retired at the end of November. Mr. Clegg will also be responsible to the board for all accounting functions. He joined the company in 1934, becoming accountant in 1951. Mr. Maxwell joined Albion in 1920 had been company secretary since 1952.

J. G. Winn, at present assistant engineer of the Northern General Transport Co. Ltd., has been appointed chief engineer of East Yorkshire Motor Services Ltd.. as from January 1 1969, in the place of the late L. W. Simpson. L. J. Crook, traffic manager of Devon General Omnibus and Touring Co. Ltd. since 1947, is to become the company's manager as from February 1 1969, in succession to T. L. C. Strange who is to retire. B. L. Rootham, 48. assistant traffic manager of Bristol Omnibus Company, is to succeed Mr. Crook as traffic manager. H. G. Palk, assistant to the traffic manager becomes assistant traffic manager.

J. T. E. Robinson has been appointed chairman of Devon General Omnibus and Touring Co. Ltd. Mr Robinson replaces W. M. Dravers, appointed managing director in 1957 and chairman in 1959. who has resigned from the board in view of other business commitments, following his appointment as a director of BET. Bernard Griffiths has been appointed a director of Devon General.

A. Beetham will succeed to the managership of the City of Oxford Motor Services Ltd.. on January 1 1969. when L. S. Higgins takes up his appoint ment as general manager of the Northern General Transport Co. Ltd. Mr. Beetham has been general manager of Thomas Brothers (Port Talbot) Ltd since 1962.

Miss Winifred "Peggy" Judd, company secretary of Morton's (BPS) Ltd. for the past 26 years and the company's only woman director, retired on Saturday. At the company's annual dinner at the Hotel Leofric. Coventry, the company chairman, Norman Shortland, presented her with a gold watch.

OBITUARY

We record with regret the death of Michael Bellhouse.

Mr. Bellhouse, 62, who took a leading part in bringing about the merger between the Pressed Steel Company and British Motor Corporation. died in Oxford last Friday. He left Pressed Steel, of which he was deputy chairman, in March this year.
