Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SERIES of applications submitted rx by W. C. Standerwick Ltd. and Scout Motor Services Ltd. involving the use of the M6 motorway on their Blackpool-London and Colne-London express services, were granted by the North Western Traffic Commissioners at Manchester on Monday. Applications by the companies to operate a night service throughout the winter between the two Lancashire teesinals and London were also granted.

Mr. F. D. Walker, for Standerwick and Scout, said that when the MI motorway was opened the journey time between Lancashire and London was reduced to 9 hr. 20 min., and if they were allowed to use the M6 this time would be further cut to 7 hr. 22 min. Objections to the use of the M6 came from the railways and four Warrington operators objected to the winter night service.

Applications were also made at Manchester on Tuesday by Naylors Motor Services, Mr. Frederick Shadwell, Mr. T. Shaw, and F. Sykes and Sons Ltd. (all of Warrington) and Turners Ideal Tours Ltd. and Progress Motors (Charley) Ltd. They wanted to introduce additional excursions from Warrington and Chorley to London to enable passengers to see certain exhibitions at Earls Court and Olympia. This service would be operated only on Sundays, from March to October, and not more than six times a year. All applications were opposed, and the Commissioners reserved their decision.
