• Motor Manufacturers and Traders show that the decline in the number of commercial vehicles exported each month since May last has not been arrested: exports in September did not even reach five figures.

Value of exports in that month at £6.5m., approximately, was £1,4m. less than the August figure. During September, 29,672 goods vehicles, road-haulage tractors and special-type vehicles were produced, together with 173 batteryelectrics, and the total passenger-vehicle output was 917. Weekly average output

was 6,152 of all types, making 30,762 for ' the month.

Of the goods vehicles, road-haulage tractors and special types, 14.479 were of under 15-cwt. capacity, 6,717 15 cwt.3 tons, 5,881 3-6 tons, and 2,595 over 6 tons. Of the passenger vehicles, 699 were single-deck and 202 double-deck motorbuses and 16 were trolleybuses.

In the nine months ended September, 198,264 goods vehicles, road-haulage tractors and special-type vehicles were produced, made up of 100,824 vehicles of up to 15-cwt. capacity, 42,106 15 cwt.3 tons, 38,314 3-6 tons, and 17,020 over 6 tons, There were also produced 1,444 battery-electrics and 6,770 passenger vehicles, of which 4,978 were single-deck and 1,692 double-deck motorbuses, and 100 trolleybuses. Overall total for the nine months was 206,478.
