DESPITE opposition by Birch Bros., Ltd., London, which is already running services from the .Metropolis, the United Counties Omnibus Co. Ltd., was, last week, granted permission by the East Midland Traffic Commissioners to run feeder services to connect with late rail theatre excursions from Loridon.

For the company, it -was explained that the services would permit residents in villages to return home after taking advantage of the midnight theatre trips from London. Mr. Birch said that the fare, 5s. 6d., represented unfair competition, and the services should be restricted to four times a year.

Mr. J. H. Stirk, chairman, said that such business would ultimately restrict itself.

ANOTHER "EAST KENT " ACQUISITION. "

THE East Kent Road Car Co., Ltd., has applied to the Metropolitan Traffic Commissioner for the transfer of the backing previously granted to Auto Pilots, Ltd., in respect of an express service from Folkestone to London. The latter company has all authorized and issued capital of £10,000, and runs about . a dozen vehicles.
