The Bredbury station closed on 24 April, and at tests have been redirected to Chadderton. Chris Bennett Heavy Haulage claims the Chadderton site is approximately 15 miles from the group's yard, adding about 24,000 a year to its diesel costs.
"We have had to employ an extra person just to drive the vehicles to the test station. It really is the wrong time to force us into a position where we have to add money to our overheads," says managing director Chris Bennett.
