Regarding "Publicity please" (Dear Sir, CM 2-8 July), one of those unsung heroes of the tragic M42 accident was a driver from Hammond Transport's Leeds depot who stopped his lorry while going in the opposite direction, raced across the motorway to where one of the cars had just caught fire and rescued two of the three occupants.
By kicking in the back window he pulled one out and then smashed the sunshine roof and pulled another out, being injured in the process. It's a pity the press and the M42 trial judge were unaware of his outstanding bravery.
