Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Here we are again, on the old subject of clearing houses and freight forwarders. I call them parasites. The dictionary defines a parasite as an organism living on another and benefiting at its expense.

These sennapods of British haulage should be banned from all transport operations.

They claim they are doing industry a service: I say they don't. In the main they just rip off honest truck operators.

Mainly to blame for this situation are companies who give work to these parasites knowing full well they have no trucks or very little out-goings. No wonder they can entertain potential customers and do work at cut-price rates.

It's about time something was done about the haulage industry — like a bond of £100,000 minimum to set up a clearing house, which is about the price of two trucks. This would certainly sort out some of the smart ones.

In the main the transport associations are toothless and gutless to these kind of operators. I say to everyone out there with work, give it to a haulier with trucks and cut out these parasites. Ray Leigh, Ray Leigh Transport, Cheshire.
