Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Dutch manufacturer Berkhof is to body the 8.5m Dennis Javelin, giving the five-year-old chassis a new lease of life in the UK midi coach market.

Berkhof importer AVE Berkhof, which is now the only UK supplier of the 35-seater coach variant, is supplying Excellence 1000-bodied Javelins to Star Line Travel of Knutsford, Cheshire.

SLT will take delivery of the first one in December: It won't be available to operators before then because Berkhof has a full order book and has to meet its existing commitments, says Berkhof's sales administration manager, Maurice Bateman.

He says the 8.5m Javelin will be suitable to anybody who needs a small coach. Dennis agrees, adding that it particularly suits the more discerning operator who wants a more dur able vehicle". Plaxton used to build its Paramount body for Javelins but stopped producing Paramounts at the start of this year. Between 15-18 of the Cummins-powered units were sold in coach form each year.

Star Line Travel will use the 157kW (211hp) coach to transfer aircrews between airports. This is the first Berkhof body in its fleet of 35, most of which have Plaxton bodies. It has also ordered 10 and 12m Berkhofbodied Javelins.

AVE Berkhof says it has sold around 15 Javelins in the past two years, out of nearly 700 which Dennis has supplied since it introduced the range in 1987.
