MINISTER for Transport Dr John Gilbert, would not say in the Commons last week whether designated lorry ratites would be given priority over other trunk roads for road building improvements and routine maintenance.
He told the MP, who has raised the point, Mr Richard Wainwright (Liberal, Colne Valley), that until the principles of a possible lorry routeing system were settled it would be premature to consider the implications for individual roads.
