A RANGE of inexpensive engine -test equipment is available from Gunsons, including the well known Colortune 500. To use the Colortune, one of the petrol vehicle's spark plugs is removed and replaced by the tester. The plug lead is reconnected and the engine run. The colour of spark in the Colortune's top indicates the ratio of air to fuel.
With the Colortune, carburetter adjustments may be made and the effect checked instantly. A kit of four Colortune plugs is available which also includes the Carbalancer, a twin-carburettor balancing device. A very inexpensive dwell/voltage test meter, the Sparktune 2, is also manufactured by Gunsons. It can be used on any 12 volt negative or positive earth system and is suitable for four, six or eight-cylinder engines. Adequate leads are provided to enable the meter to be used from the driving seat.
