No sooner was the ink dry on the paper a few weeks ago than a bus driving rallying enthusiastic Bristolian wrote to the Ed accusing me of being unable to drive, being blind, biased against the West Country — and anti bus rally generally. "And," he said, "if you do anything with this
letter put it into the hands of my solicitor." He's lucky, I can't afford one.
Anyway, what could I do but take up the challenge? I sent the letter back — and now await the arrival of the Bow Street Runners.
And just to prove I'm not anti-bus rally, let me tell you that the annual Trans Pennine Run, which took place last Sunday, was again a huge success. More than 200 vehicles took part, all were met by the Mayor of Harrogate, 30 of the competitors went off with trophies, and all went home happy. With the possible exception of my crusty. friend from Bristol. So there.
