• The Road Transport Industry Training Board intimated this week that it will recognize the 1972 Lorry Driver of the Year Competition as a grant-earning exercise. Operators who are on scope with RTITB and enter the event will be credited with three days' points at the hgv rate and those who reach the Final will be credited with one further day. One day equals four points.

Under the points system grants are not paid until the end of the Board's training year and the value of the points is not fixed until the total amount of money available to meet them is known.
